The Proof of Your Love

This is quite a significant song to us because of the mission behind it. The cry of the chorus is, ‘Let our lives be proof of Your [God’s] love.’ Each night when we stand a on stage and sing those words it’s a bit of an intense moment. Reason being is that these lyrics are such a proclamation and call to action that we’ve really got to check our motives. The truth is if we determine to be the proof of God’s love, He will renew and impact every area of our life. The verses of the song were inspired and born out of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, specifically chapter 13:1-3:

"If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love."

It’s interesting to note how Verse 4 often takes the cake for the most well-known portion of the ‘love’ chapter [love is patient, love is kind], but we’ve found these 3 prior verse to be particularly profound in how we are to live as believers. So at the start of our week together, let’s make a decision to stand up, stand out and be the proof!
