BE TRANSFORMED!
My “faith” experience was pretty drastic. In a nutshell, I was taken by security forces (some say the KGB!) while I was in communist Russia shooting a documentary. For the first time, I was fearful about what might happen and it was way out of my control. I had nowhere and no one to turn to. I literally cried out to God… and He answered! For some folks, it may take that kind of rock-bottom experience, but that’s not the way everyone comes to know God. You may just feel an emptiness inside that you can’t fill with anything that you have tried.
Have you seen the Transformer movies? They are crazy, because these seemingly “normal” things can transform into super robot beings that either protect or try to take over the world. I know the movies are fictional, but the concept is real when you start this process of following God. Why? Well, because your perspective begins to change as you look at things from His perspective instead of yours. What if there was another way to look at the world and everything in it? We say “Faith, Family and Football” a lot around our work, but there’s a reason - because we believe that is the order of importance for our lives. And a lot of the professional athletes and coaches we talk to live this way too.
Peyton Manning said “faith, family, friends and football” in his book. I want to challenge you to start looking at things differently. Think about what it might be like to give up your cell phone for a day. What new things might you “see” as you walk around in your world? Or if you turned your TV off for a night, or a week, or a month! You are transformed by seeing things in a new and different light. And this begins to change who you are. Start looking at things through God’s eyes.
ASK: Invite God to join you in this time.

WRITE: Take some notes from your thoughts on today’s reading.
MEDITATE: Today’s reading talks about not conforming to the world and “being transformed by the renewing of your mind.” What does that mean to you? How can you not be conformed to the world (and still be part of it since we live here!) and transform your mind? What are some things that you’d like to “change” about who you are or things you do?
