What Was Jesus' Mission on Earth?Sample
Jesus gives life that is full and good
“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
Jesus often used parables to explain abstract things. Through these short stories about everyday events, spiritual matters sometimes become clearer. Several times Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd; not of sheep, but of people. He calls Himself “the Good Shepherd” and explains His intention: He wants to give people life in all its fullness. He wants to protect them from people and spiritual powers with evil intentions. He wants to seek them when they have gone astray and bring them back safely. He wants to rescue them from dangerous situations in which they are through their own fault. For that purpose He is even willing to die. Not just in the parable, but in reality!
Jesus sacrificing His own life for the good of people is His ultimate demonstration of love. And He does this even for people who have themselves run away from God and are behaving hostilely toward Him. No human being would do such a thing. But for Jesus, this is precisely the purpose of His coming to earth: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

About this Plan
Jesus Christ came to earth for a purpose. His coming was a conscious decision. During the years in which He traveled around the land of Israel and made God's Kingdom known, He also explained why He came to earth. Several times, we read in the Gospels: “I have come to...”. This reading plan aims to trace some of those statements to make us aware of Jesus’ mission.
