You Don't Have Time For...Sample
We don't have time for…comparing ourselves to others
"He doesn't deserve you at all. He doesn't even know how amazing you are!"
How often I heard this sentence after my relationship with the man I loved and wanted to marry fell apart so dramatically.
In reality, the phrase should be, "He doesn't even know how amazing HE is." What? But it's true! He never saw himself through God's eyes—only through human eyes. As a result, he felt he wasn't enough and had to compensate with a woman at his side. If she, then, "wasn't good enough" for his friends, she was exchanged for another. Just like I was.
How often I heard comments like, "Oh Déborah, when I used to go to a restaurant with my exes, the first thing everyone did was turn around and look at who I was with. It's not like that with you."
And yes, the perfectly beautiful woman after me fit that "stop and stare" description! But even she was replaced a short time later. Again, it wasn't because my ex couldn't see how amazing she was…but because he couldn't see how amazing HE was made to be.
I compared myself for quite a while to the woman who had replaced me. The comparisons tormented me until I realized a liberating truth:
"On God my salvation and my glory rest…" (Psalm 62:7, NASB).
What a wonderful, wonderful verse!
Glory, according to the dictionary, means "great admiration, beauty, honor." Your glory, your self-worth, rests on God alone. Isn't that amazing?
And not only that! Your salvation rests on Him! You can leave the broken pieces of your heart, any rejection you may have experienced, and all destructive comparisons in His loving hands. Yes, you can leave all that with God because in Him you find your salvation as well as your beauty, your glory! I LOVE THAT!
I encourage you to let your beauty "rest" on the Lord. He will always do good to your soul!
You are a miracle!
Déborah
