Something New

DAY 6 OF 6

New life

To wrap up this devotional plan, there’s something new that God gives us, and it is so simple, but at the same time so deep for us as people of faith: new life. We know 2 Corinthians 5:17 very well, but do we live according to the power of this truth?

“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old life has gone, the new life is here.” For us, this is the ABC of the Gospel and of our faith. But a lot of times, we want XYZ without living continuously in the ABC of our faith. A new life begins in the moment we receive Christ in our heart.

His reckless love has reached us and, through the power of resurrection, everything has been made new. The cross deals with our past and the empty grave produces a new life. The cross deals with Egypt and the empty grave makes a new way to the promised land.

We remember what we were saved from, but we forget about it to enter into the new, because He emptied the grave. He defeated sin with his death; that is to say, He overcame for us to live a new life in Jesus Christ continuously.

Today, if you still have your mind, your heart and your spirit in Egypt and you need a new life—something new in your family, in your career, in your spirituality, on the inside—you have access to new life in Jesus.

You might have thought that God was going to open the Red Sea once again or that he was going to work in the same way again. In other words, you limited God and you are disappointed. The Holy Spirit is available to renew, restore, and awaken what we think is dry and dead in us. The Holy Spirit has been poured out and He is available for new things to flow in us, over and over again. The same Spirit that gave new life to Christ’s body is available to give His Church new life and lift us up to see the new things He has prepared for us.

Prayer: Only you can renew what is dry and broken in me. Lift my eyes up. Fill my heart. I want that new life you offer me, Jesus. Thank you for your Spirit that resurrects all the dead in me. Thank you for giving me new life! Amen.
