Recover From Sexual BetrayalSample
Sharing Your Brokenness with Others?
Often where betrayal through infidelity occurs, there is shame and fear. We want to isolate because we fear we will be judged somehow for what has happened to us, especially where pornography or extramarital affairs have happened within a marriage or a committed relationship.
God tells us to bear one another's burdens. He knows that going through life solo is a path to destruction. We need each other. We need accountability in our lives just as much as the person who betrayed us needs it in theirs. When we say accountability, we are not talking about someone who watches over our every move in life and judges it. We're talking about a deep relationship, a support system where that someone or someones can be your advocate. They champion you towards your goals and the things you want to achieve within yourself. Having a support system around you with people you love and trust is critical in moving forward with success in healing.
Do you have one or two people that you can trust to tell you the truth no matter how hard it is? Schedule a time to sit down with one or both of them and let them know what you are facing. Let them know where you are at and where you want to be. Ask them to journey this path of healing with you. God longs for you to receive healing and often he uses the body of Christ to bring it to fruition.
Prayer: Father, will you show me who I can trust in my sphere of influence? Show me the person(s) that are safe and who will speak truth and hope into my life. Thank you that I am on the path to healing and that I don't have to walk it alone. I pray you will begin to prepare my heart to reach out and ask someone to sojourn with me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
