Jesus shows us exactly what it looks like to be about His Father’s business. To walk in His identity, in His father and His calling and not concern Himself with what others say. He came to be a kingdom disruptor that all who encountered Him would leave differently than they came.
John 6:38-40 says, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Jesus knew exactly who He was. He knew who His father was. He also understood that through prayer He had direct access to His Father in Heaven, the power of the Holy Spirit and He could always be reminded whose He was.
Jesus walked confidently in His calling. He never wavered in the plan and purpose God had for Him. Jesus never doubted Himself or changed Himself to appease others. He came to redeem the lost. He came for the salvation of sinners. This is the heart of how Jesus wants us to live as well. He wants us to chase after the lost and love them into heaven.
Hebrews 10:35-36 says, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.”
Jesus walked in humility. He didn’t want people focused on His acts of healing, but on how He could completely change and transform their whole life. Jesus was always serving others and many of His parables point to those who love Him being focused on doing the same.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
Jesus walked boldly in His calling. Remember His boldness to offer hope and salvation to the Samaritan woman at the well? Jesus came and died so that you and I would know Him. Not only know Him by name but also know His presence. That we would be transformed by the power of His blood, shed on the cross for our sins. He knew that if we were transformed by Him, our greatest desire would be to see others receive the same gift.
Yes, Jesus could have ignored God. He could have wavered, but He never does. He loves humanity until His final breath on the cross. Then He rose from the grave three days later, showing Himself to hundreds of His followers, teaching, and healing before His time on earth was truly finished. Why? Because He cares…about you and me. And because there is more, so much more that He has for you than you could ever dream or imagine for yourself.
Now we have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. To chase after Him in our secret place, to walk boldly, humbly, and confidently in the calling He’s put on our lives, in every season in which we find ourselves.
Sweet daughter of Jesus, heir to His kingdom, may the Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord, who loves you beyond measure lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace, joy, and confidence as you boldly walk in who He says you are, in full assurance of the calling upon your life and the gifts He will use to build His kingdom in every season of your life, Amen!
Jesus, I thank you that you came to earth and died for my sins, and that you care about me so much more than I could ever ask, think, or imagine. I pray you would help me to confidently, humbly, and boldly chase after your calling on my life and walk in who you have called me to be. I thank you that I get to use my gifts to glorify you and point others to your kingdom. Amen.
About this Plan
To understand what it truly means to be known by God, we must first learn to abide in His presence. It’s there, in His presence, we begin to see ourselves as Jesus sees us and find our identity in Him, so we can lean into His calling for our lives, using the gifts He's woven in us, in every season of our lives. Knowing Jesus gives us the confidence and boldness to walk fully in what He has called us to.
