One look at the world today, and it's clear there are many things vying for our attention. And with our phones in our pockets, everything is instantly accessible. We have information overload with the advancement of technology. That can be positive, but this advancement invites too many negatives as well.

To understand how serious this is, we must pray for protection over worldly temptations and distractions. Daily we need to pray effectively for help with the spiritual battles we face. The enemy knows our temptations and our weaknesses all too well. And when we think we can overpower him and his imps, we will quickly fall. Satan will leverage our weaknesses to his advantage. He is very cunning and deceptive. Remember, he is the father of all evil and every lie.

Satan wants to kill, steal, and destroy us. He has a vendetta that can’t be satisfied. He’s out to get you and won’t stop until he gets the very life God created for you. Satan wants you to choose sides. Gratefully for believers, the battle has been won on Calvary. But that doesn’t stop Satan from sticking his big toe into the door of our lives in any way, shape, or form. His goal is to get us to slip, slide, and stumble into many distracting pits. Satan loves to isolate us and overwhelm us in these ever-increasing battles.

Jesus hasn’t left us alone in the battle. We must wear the full armor of God to face our battles each day. Prayers of protection help us stand firm, stand strong, stand in the war, and fight with God’s weapons and mighty protection.

Gain God’s truth: God is the head of Heaven’s defense. The Bible gives countless examples of Him making a way, fighting with small armies, conquering giants, and empowering the weak. Dress for battle with the full armor of God’s Word. The struggles in this life are not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world … and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. If we could fight on our own, we wouldn't need God’s protection. Pick up the shield of faith, which extinguishes all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Then stand on God’s faithfulness and strength. Shields up, friends!
