OVERFLOW

When we become followers of Christ, we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and it’s the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that allows us to strive to live righteously. As believers, we need to consciously be looking to the Lord and asking the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and actions. When we turn our focus to the Holy Spirit, our words become echoes of Jesus’ love, and our worship becomes much more than just songs.

If we ask the Lord to fill us up with His streams of living water, He always will, and when He fills us, we’re not just full—we overflow with His love! Trying to contain the love that God pours into our souls is like trying to fit the ocean in a thimble—we have no choice but to let what Christ pours into us to pour out onto those we come into contact with.

Do you ever find yourself just going through the motions in worship? When you interact with others? With your family? It may be because you’re not allowing the Lord to fill you up, and you’re trying to worship and love out of your own capacity for those things. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His living water today so that your worship and love can overflow from the depths of your soul.
