DAY 2 OF 4

The Trial of Jesus in Virtual Reality

"You would have no authority against Me if it were not given to you from above." (John 18:37)

In the face of tragedy or inconvenience, we often give the devil (and other people) too much credit. Or else we commonly write off our misfortunes as random acts of unmanaged chaos.

But Jesus sees the bigger picture. To Him, everything that befalls you is either something that God is doing, or something that He is allowing. Either way, it is all good.

When you understand what God's true motivations are, you will understand why He allows you to experience trials. But what is God's motivation? Jesus summed it all up when He said, "It is enough for the disciple that he might be as his teacher." (Matthew 10:25) Mark His words. It is enough. Nothing else is required. You have fulfilled God's expectations when you become like Christ.

The character of Christ in you is perfected through adversity. Simply put, if you are in Christ, you will experience the same adversity as the One in whom you reside. You cannot hope to become like Him if your life does not mimic His march toward death. In your case, it would be a death to yourself, your rights, and your will. To become like Christ, you must repeat the same words as He did - "Thy will be done."

To the fully-surrendered servant of God, everything comes to you through His hands. The life of a true believer is managed down to the smallest detail. Our failure to acknowledge this is rooted in our inability to grasp the size and power of our Father in Heaven.

Transformational thought - Your circumstances, and the authority over you that they appear to possess, are merely God's agents to form you into His likeness.

Transformational prayer - Lord, when my world feels like it is out of control, remind me that everything in my life comes through Your hand, and that everything has a purpose.
