Daniel - Standing FirmSample

If you could choose between having a king’s feast or just some vegetables, which would you choose?
Daniel and his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were chosen to be trained to serve in the king’s palace. When they arrived, the chief official gave them new names. He named Daniel, Belteshazzar and his friends were given the names Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Every day for three years they were going to be trained in a new language and how to live as Babylonians. The problem was that the king and the people of Babylon didn’t serve the one true God, instead they worshipped statues and idols. The palace gave them food from the king’s table: the most tasty, juicy, gourmet food and wine. But there was a problem, it broke the rules God had given His people about food and it had all been offered up to idols before it was served.
Daniel and his friends stood firm and obeyed God. They ate only vegetables and water and ten days later, they looked healthier and better than those who had eaten the royal food. Daniel chose to obey God instead of doing what was easy. He stood firm, and God blessed him.
