David and Mical: The Problem of Getting Back With Your ExSample

GETTING BACK WITH MY EX: YES OR NO?

“Examine everything; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

I feel like I have to be responsible and say this clearly, at the risk of sounding obvious: I AM NOT TELLING ANYONE TO GET OUT OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP, GO BACK WITH THEIR EX OR BLOCK THEM ON WHATSAPP. I am showing you a biblical case so that you can see principles that you must take into account not only when considering if you are going to return with your ex, but also in your current relationship or in a relationship that you want to have in the future.

• If you're going to get back together with your ex (or get into a relationship) don't destroy a legitimately established relationship. It doesn't matter if you dreamed it, that it came out in the prayer tombola, or that you saw each other in a retreat... God does not violate his commandments to bless you.
• If you're going to get back together with your ex, do it for the right reasons. You can't live on the nostalgia of what once was, or just get angry every time you see that he is surpassing you and use all your resources to upset that person. If it is truly from God that you are in a relationship again, the foundation must be honest communication, mutual and individual prayer, supportive counseling, and setting clear rules and boundaries. Beware of falling into the trap of strong emotions.
• Whether or not you get back with your ex, don't destroy each other with words. Sarcasm is not, as many think, a sign of superior intelligence, but an example of the cruel and inconsiderate use that we can give to communication and words. Let us remember that each of our expressions has eternal consequences: "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words, you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:37 ESV).

Remember that surely there are many principles to take into account that are not here, but these are extracted from my study of this story.
