Twin sisters Margaret Dunlop Gibson and Agnes Smith Lewis were the first women to work in the library at the ancient St. Catherine's Monastery on Mt. Sinai. In 1891 they "resolved to carry out our long-cherished plan of visiting the scene of one of the most astonishing miracles recorded in Bible history....the passage of the Israelites through the desert of Arabia..."
