Growing Our Church Family Part 3Sample
WE BELONG TOGETHER
It’s human nature to want to belong to something – to have a place where we feel loved and accepted. This innate desire within us is a God-given need for authentic and honest connection with others. We find throughout scripture that as followers of Jesus, we’re called into the community of fellow believers. Christianity is not just what you believe, it’s also where you belong.
In our reading from today, the author writes, “Let us consider how to stir up one another.” In order to stir up one another we must be in relationship with one another. We cannot be strangers. It’s in the second part of the scripture that we find out how we’re to do this. We have to meet together in order to stir up one another.
Ask Yourself:
-Does this verse refer to only meeting together on a Sunday morning?
-Could this be a deeper type of relationship than positive greetings in passing on Sunday?
Pause to Pray for the Church: Lift up the church body as a whole and pray specifically for mentors and small groups, that they may help the body of believers to, “stir up one another to love and good works,”
Take a Next Step into Christian community: If you’re not currently a part of a small Christian community, find out what options are available at your local church. If you’re not part of a church, commit to attending one more regularly and getting to know someone there. If you don’t know where to start, reach out to a trusted friend and let them know your desire to step into community.

About this Plan
When Jesus called his disciples to follow Him, they made a commitment to discipleship in the context of community. And from that point forward, the Church has been built on this same idea. But how can broken and sinful people who disagree about so many things work together for God’s Kingdom? Join us as we explore what it means to be the church: devoted, connected, and discipled brothers and sisters.
