Self-righteousness
Lu.9:23 (KJV) "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." We need to bring self to The Cross so that the life of Christ can flow in us and through us. One reason a lot of people do not experience the fullness of Christ is because they think they are good. Rom.7:18 "And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature." That is self-righteousness and that is the first thing you and I must bring to The Cross and nail to The Cross.
Self-righteousness blocks us from the power of resurrection. Rom.3:10 says, "there is none that is righteous, not even one." One of the best things that can happen to you is realizing that you are not a good person. This helps you see your need for a Savior, helps you see your need for The Cross and the ultimate beauty of The Cross.
While man thinks of The Cross in terms of improvement, God's see The Cross in the light of transformation. We want to be better but Christ wants to change us. "If a man is in Christ, he is new... all things have become new." What God is offering us in Christ is total transformation.
Jesus did not go through all that He did on The Cross to make you a better person. Jesus went to The Cross to give you life. Jesus gave us life and we need Him every second, of every minute, of every hour and of every day. Self-righteousness hinders Resurrection Life and Power. Surrender it at The Cross.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, today I bring self-righteousness to The Cross and I leave it there.
