Life With The Holy SpiritSample
The Good News
As I was thinking about the power of Jesus’s death and resurrection last Easter, it struck me how little sense it makes, humanly speaking. Jesus was made to be sin on our behalf, was separated from the Father, and bore the sin of the world as He died. He became sin so we could become righteousness and have fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 5:21).
It’s very simple, but it requires faith to believe this. It doesn’t seem right that anyone can just come to God and say, “I’ve sinned, and I need Your forgiveness. Have mercy on me, come into my life, and give me a new heart and a new life.” But it really is that simple.
What caught my attention most as I was thinking about this was that Jesus was mocked and treated cruelly and brutally, even though He had never sinned, and yet He had no hatred or anger. He just released forgiveness. I am undone by the reality of this forgiveness and even more by the fact that this same forgiveness is available to us. The Holy Spirit empowers and teaches us to go and forgive others just as we have been forgiven (Col. 3:13).
