SUICIDE 2nd in a SeriesSample

SUICIDE KILLS MORE THAN SELF
In yesterday’s study, I spoke of how when a person is at their lowest point and is considering suicide that they can only think of themselves. They don’t stop to consider the impact and hardship that they are putting on their loved ones left behind.
They don’t consider:
• The long days and nights of empty feelings and the void of loss
• That the person that finds them will have nightmares and trauma
• The blame that loved ones guilt themselves with even though it is not their fault
• The fact that a suicidal death puts loved ones into financial bondage because some life insurance policies have clauses about this type of death or other time parameters
• Often if a loved one takes their life in the home, it makes it very hard for their loved ones to remain in that home, often causing the family to have to leave what they know as home and begin again
• The list goes on
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9a
I have a great amount of passion for this issue because not only did I once consider it, but also I have loved ones who have lost their loved ones to suicide. I saw first-hand the devastation it leaves, crushing hearts and causing bouts of depression.
I recently heard of the friend of an acquaintance who lost her young husband to suicide. The wife was left with an infant child to raise on her own. Her entire world turned upside down—out of nowhere— unexpected.
If only man could grasp God’s grace and power in our weak times. If only we could keep our focus on God and not on circumstances and life issues.
PRAYER: Father God, if anyone reading this plan has thoughts of suicide or knows someone struggling with these thoughts, I ask You to nudge them into seeking help. Please make them realize that such an act not only takes their life but also kills the spirit of so many loved ones involved, taking them sometimes a lifetime to recover. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
