Elevate: Raising the Bar for Conversations About ConsentSample

If there’s one thing that happens naturally, it’s thinking of ourselves first! We’re all good at putting our own needs before the needs of others. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. But looking out for our own needs isn’t the same as being self-centered. Living with only ourselves in the center can lead to us disrespecting and dishonoring the people around us. Following Jesus means placing as high a value on someone else’s well-being as you do your own. We need to think about the consequences our words, choices, or actions might have on another person and not just ourselves.
Spend time this week reading about Jesus’ life in one of the gospels to see how Jesus treats others as a model for how you should treat the people in your life.

About this Plan

There are a lot of topics spinning around culture today: especially when it comes to relationships and consent. We’ll dive into the conversation about how we treat one another. Instead of focusing on the bare minimum of consent, we’ll aim for something more. We’ll embrace the elevated standard—God’s standard—of honor and respect. It’s time to raise the bar for conversations about how we treat one another.
