When you think about the resurrection of Jesus, what amazes you about it? How about the amazing display of God's power? This is an awesome, miracle-working power. Apart from our creator God, no one can breathe life back into a person, raising them from the dead.
Jesus proved this wonder-working power in the resurrection of Lazarus. This man had been dead for four days. Don't overlook this. It was not a couple of minutes but around 96 hours that this man's body had no signs of life. Jesus not only did the impossible, he promised to do so spiritually for all who believe. Even though our earthly bodies will pass away, God promises a resurrected, new life for eternity when our trust is in Jesus as our savior.
If Jesus could do what he did then, and what he promises to do in the future, what could we ask God to bring back to life in us today? Maybe it's a renewed sense of hope in the promises of God. Maybe it's contentment, trusting God has a plan for us despite what may feel like are unfair circumstances. Maybe doubts need to be put to death and faith strengthened.
Receiving the gift of salvation is a one-time event in our lives, but the saving grace of Jesus continues to work in us making us a new creation to live an abundant life here on earth and for eternity.
