Everyone Has a Role
Consider
What does it take for one person to hear the Gospel for the first time? Someone has to tell them, right? Is it that easy? Think of everything that went into that moment. The work began years before that one conversation.
- Someone prayed.
- Someone gave.
- Someone sustained the missionary emotionally.
- Someone supported their family.
- Someone taught them the language.
- Someone designed the materials they needed to communicate their ministry.
- Someone helped them downsize and move.
- Someone researched answers to international IT questions.
- Someone gave them advice about how to cook without familiar staples or measurements.
- Someone listened when they felt overwhelmed.
- Someone encouraged them to follow God’s call on their life.
- Someone trained them to find people ready to hear the Good News.
- Someone equipped them with solid relationship patterns.
- Someone recognized how God had gifted them.
- Someone first told them the Gospel.
There is a reason Jesus commissioned the Church to work together to reach the nations. We need one another. The task is too big, and the need is too urgent for any of us to attempt it alone. When we’re united, each using the gifts, experiences, wisdom, and weaknesses God has given us, we’re the best chance the world has for experiencing the grace of Jesus. Everyone has a role in the Great Commission.
Obey
Share a time when you saw God use people of various gifts and experiences to come together for His glory.
What role(s) are you currently filling for the Great Commission? Are you sharing your faith? Are you praying for unreached people and the missionaries who are serving them? Are you giving toward ministries specifically focused on unreached people? Are you an advocate, mobilize, or encourager for missionaries? Pray about what you’re currently doing and ask God to show you the next steps He has for you.
Write down one commitment you will make in obedience to the Great Commission this week.

About this Plan
The Good News of Jesus changes everything. Through Jesus, our sins are forgiven, our pasts are redeemed, and our futures are secure. In Him we have reconciliation, transformation, hope, and a purpose. In the following lessons, we’ll look at situations in the Bible that show the powerful, transformational power of the Gospel for those who hear it for the very first time.
