Freedom in Surrender: Live God’s Great Purpose for YouSample

Let go of your life—it’s already held.
For believers, life here on earth is not the only life there is. And that belief changes everything.
This promise drives every decision Mrs. Kip makes, from how she navigates heartbreaking loss to how she embraces a terminal diagnosis. She lives as if her highest priority is not self and security and comfort in her earthbound body. Instead, she lives as if she already has one foot on the shore of eternity. She doesn’t strive for the comforts and rewards of the earth but invests in people who need the hope of Christ. She thrives on the freedom of knowing the best is yet to come. She tells Aidyn:
“Our God is the God of new life. Carve that in a stone somewhere, because it is the gospel truth. It was exactly what happened with me. And wow, what a new life it was! I was a giant mess, and he rescued me from it all. Because of him, my view of this fleeting life completely changed. He gave me a new vision. Would you like to hear it?”
Aidyn glanced up from her note-taking. “I would.”
“Good. Write this down: The grave is not my final home. I want to live as if I believe that. By God’s grace, I will live because I believed that.”
What would you do if you had no fear of death? How would the flavor of your day change? How would your conversations change? What about your relationships? What about your view of God and of heaven?
Prayer:
Eternal God, you are the God of new life. You rescue us from the strife of the world and transform us to pursue you more eagerly every day. Because of what you have done, my view of this fleeting life is completely changed. You have given me a new, better vision: The grave is not my final home. I want to live as if I believe that. By your grace, I will live because I believe that. My best life is waiting for me on the other side of the veil. Please help me to embrace this freedom to love and give my best to you now until the day I am joined with you in heaven forever.
