365 Ways To Know GodSample
Jesus – a More Excellent Name.
Jesus has a More Excellent Name than the angels. The angels were ministering spirits sent to help the heirs of salvation (Heb. 1:14), but Jesus was sent to purchase salvation. He has a More Excellent Name than Moses, who led Israel out of Egypt and gave them the Israelites the Law (see 3:3). Jesus fulfilled the Law and died to take it out of the way (Col. 2:13-15).
Jesus has a More Excellent Name than the high priest, who interceded for Israel (Heb. 4:14-16). Jesus gives us grace, for which the high priest prayed. Jesus has a More Excellent Name than Melchizedek, because Jesus obtained a better salvation and a new covenant (see 7:22-24). Because of the excellence of His name, you can go to the Father though Jesus at any time. Will you pray to the Father through the name of Jesus?
Jesus, I love Your name. Your name calms my fears and guides me each day. Jesus, Your name saved me and Your name keeps me safe.
Because Jesus has a More Excellent Name, you can pray in His name (Jn. 14:13-14). Because the name of Jesus has power, you can break addiction and cast out demonic powers in His name (Acts 16:18). Because the name of Jesus sets prisoners free, you can have a powerful witness to the unsaved in His name (see 10-14). One day, every knee will bow to recognize and worship the name of Jesus (Phil. 2:9-11). Will you do it now?
Jesus, I worship at the sound of Your name. You are worthy to receive all honor, praise, and thanksgiving. Amen.
Key Thought: The name of Jesus is the key to God’s power.
