DAY 12 OF 17

Flash Mob

Paul and Barnabus continue to preach, which continues to grow the Church, which continues to upset the Jewish leaders. A mob forms and they get run out of town. The early Church continues to grow even when it faces opposition, oppression and persecution.

Read: Acts 13:13-15, 44-52(NLT)

Explore the Theme: Paul and Barnabus are out doing what they’ve been told to do: spreading the gospel. Even though they are doing what they are supposed to be doing, things don’t always go as planned or hoped. Having their own people reject the truth has to be devastating; these are their people, and yet Paul and Barnabas continue to stay laser-focused on their call. Can you relate with the frustrations these men encounter while doing the work of God? Is it hard to not give up when the oppositions mount?

Ask God: Often life packs a powerful disappointing punch when things don’t go the way you hope, dream or even pray they would go. Ask God to give you the resolve to keep living for him no matter what disappointments come your way. Ask him to give you his heart for people that you might love them regardless of how you are treated by them. Ask him to help you maintain a strong prayer life for those that need him even when they may vehemently reject him.

Live it Out: Being laser-focused on God’s call means being close to God each day. We can’t do the work of God without the strength of God, which requires daily building into our relationship with him. How can you deepen your connection with God? Who can you reach out today to ask for prayer in the ways you need to grow?

About this Plan

Scattered

(Part two of a four part journey through the Books of Acts.) Even in (and especially in?) hard times, God is present and is working to build His Church. We can find encouragement in this. When circumstances force us to pivot, we don’t have to lose heart - God is with us.
