Praying With Others

DAY 5 OF 5

Leading Friends and Family in Prayer

In what situations should we pray? Everyone agrees that it is appropriate to pray at church or at some point during a Bible study. Of course, praying by yourself is natural. And many people pray before meals. But God always desires to connect with us in conversation, even when we are with our family or a group of friends. Spending time in group prayer is one of the most meaningful things that you can do with your family and friends. Mike Weaver, leader of the band Big Daddy Weave, hungered to see God change their concerts into a more meaningful experience. He learned that prayer is the key.

Do you hunger for more from your time spent with family and friends? Taking a few minutes to pray together as a group can help satisfy that hunger. Your time together and friendships will be stronger, no matter how meaningful they already are. Be on the lookout for opportunities. For example, if you are having a birthday party for a friend, suggest pausing to pray for your friend. Ask your friend if they have any prayer requests for the upcoming year. Invite someone to pray first, give others a chance to pray out loud, and close the prayer time when it seems right. As you do this, you may find yourself craving more meaningful times of prayer when you are with others.

About this Plan

Praying With Others

Prayer is a powerful way to interact with both God and others. Praying with others can be both encouraging and deeply meaningful. This plan will help you think of new ways to do that. Each of the five days contains a short audio message (1-2 minutes). The guests share about praying face-to-face, deepening relationships through prayer, seeing God's power, and leading group prayer.
