Quit Daydreaming: How to Wake Up & Break Free (Part 3)Sample
Accepting God's Love
An identity grounded in God is the only way we can stand firm against the attack of the enemy whose main goal is to keep us in mental bondage.
I understand for many people, including myself, there is often a gap that exists between knowing the truths God says about us and believing them. This opening is usually the main thing preventing us from accepting God’s unfailing love.
But to fully embrace our identities in Christ, we must recognize the false beliefs that try to weigh us down. Once the belief has been pinpointed, the next step is to surrender it to the Lord. From there, we have to intentionally disagree with the lie and refute it with God’s Word.
The negative perceptions that distort our self-worth are often closely linked to real pain. Still, God has equipped us with all the tools we need to demolish strongholds and false beliefs.
He also empowers us to do so effectively. This gives us the liberty to go through life assured and secure rather than rejected, withdrawn, and lonely.
So what does Jesus see when He sees us? A child of God, a soul that He loved so much He laid down His own life so we could spend eternity with Him and His Father.
In order to understand who we are, we first need to understand the person who created us. While we will never have the capacity to fully comprehend God, we can get to know more about Him and His ways when we read His Word.
Fixing negative thinking won’t be easy, but every time you’re tempted to give in to a lie from the enemy, meditate on one of the Father’s truths instead. The world may say you don’t matter or tell you you’ll never amount to anything, but here’s what the ruler of the universe thinks: you're one in a billion, and He is truly, deeply, madly in love with you.
My friends, you are loved, seen, and accepted far beyond you could ever imagine...literally! No daydream, fantasy, or dissociative coping mechanism can ever replace the story God has written for your life so today, I encourage you to meditate on His word instead of trying to control your own narrative.
