15 Days Year End Prayer and FastSample
FAITH THAT IS BUILT ON JESUS
Faith is often described as the bedrock of our relationship with God, and at the center of our faith stands Jesus Christ. In the New Testament, we find numerous stories that exemplify unwavering faith in Jesus. Today, let us reflect on one such story and draw inspiration for our own journey of faith.
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 14:22-33
In this passage, the disciples face a fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee. The winds were contrary, and the waves were tossing the boat. In the darkest hour of the night, Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. Initially, the disciples were terrified, thinking they saw a ghost.
Peter, filled with a mixture of fear and faith, calls out to Jesus, "Lord if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water." Jesus responds with a simple command, "Come." Peter, driven by faith, steps out of the boat and begins to walk on the water towards Jesus.
However, as Peter experiences the strong wind, he becomes afraid and starts to sink. In desperation, he cries out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately, Jesus reaches out his hand and catches Peter, rebuking him gently for his doubt.
Key Points:
1.Initiating Faith: Peter's faith was bold and proactive. He didn't want to stay in the safety of the boat; instead, he desired to be where Jesus was, even if it meant stepping into the unknown.
2.Momentary Doubt: While walking on the water, Peter's faith wavered when he focused on the storm rather than on Jesus. This teaches us that our faith can be tested, but in those moments, we must fix our gaze on the Lord.
3.Swift Rescue: Jesus didn't hesitate to rescue Peter when he cried out for help. This demonstrates the compassion and willingness of Jesus to save us when our faith falters.
As we reflect on this story, let us examine our own faith in Jesus. Are we willing to step out of our comfort zones and follow Him, even when the storms of life surround us? When doubt creeps in, do we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the example of Peter's faith and the assurance that you are always there to rescue us when we call out to you. Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus amid life's storms. In His name, we pray. Amen.
