Pause: A Month of Gratitude in Five Minutes a Day

Proclaim

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Phil. 4:8-9)

Prompt

Everyone is special in God’s eyes. We really are. We are all beautiful, unique creations, purposefully created to do what only each of us can do.

But when it comes to living a life of discipleship and gratitude, you need to hear the other side of this coin: “YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL!”

You simply cannot go out and do your own thing and expect it to yield results. There is a reason why you need Jesus: because your way doesn’t work!

See, there is a solution to all your problems, and that solution has worked for millions and millions of other people, and it leads to a life filled with purpose, passion, and joy! It’s a great life, but you won’t get to live it if you think you can find your own way to it. You cannot drag your old way of thinking into the life of discipleship; it has to stay behind where you left it so you can follow what God has for you.

And at the end of that path is eternal gratitude.
