DAY 5: DEEPER PRAYER LIFE

Read: Revelation 3:20; Romans 8:37-39; 1 John 3:1; Matthew 11:28-29

As we spend time in prayer, communing with God, we are made aware of His relational nature. God desires a relationship with us, and we can see repeatedly throughout Scripture that He is patiently waiting for us to spend time with Him in His presence, deepening our relationship with Him.

There are, however, moments in our lives when our relationship with God may feel broken, and we may experience distance from Him when we choose sin over honoring His Word. What we believe about God will ultimately reveal how we respond in those moments. Will we run from Him in shame, believing that He is an unloving and unforgiving father? Or will we return to Him, trusting His Word, which tells us that nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from His love?

When we are intentional about deepening our time in prayer, we affirm the truths about God’s relational nature. And when we fall short, we will immediately turn to Him, a loving Father who is ready to meet us with open arms, forgive us of our sins, and fully restore our relationship with Him.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to cultivate a heart of prayer that runs to You and not from You when I fall short. Remind me of the love that you have for me and that You stand ready to forgive my sins at all times. Thank You that there is absolutely nothing that can separate me from Your love.
