NIV Once-A-Day Bible for WomenSample

Genesis 1:26–28
God created both men and women in his own image (see Genesis 1:27). That means we have the ability to think and reason as God does, the power to feel emotions as God feels them and a will to act as God acts. Of course, our thought processes, emotions and behavior aren’t exactly like God’s, since he is the Creator of all these things. In addition, our image was tainted when sin entered the world. But in giving us these capacities, God designed us to be able to relate to him intimately. As the image of God is restored in us through Jesus—as we are conformed to be like him and our sins are forgiven—we function as God intended, bringing us joy, peace and contentment.
