God Is Never SurprisedSample
Is Jesus really enough?
Do you know a little about soccer? As I write this, we are in the middle of the very controversial World Cup 2022. One player impressed me a lot, even before the competition began.
Roberto Firmino is a Brazilian footballer, signed to Liverpool FC and playing for the Brazilian national team. But his big dream of playing in the World Cup with this team this year has been shattered. He has not been chosen, so to speak.
Or was he? The media and also his Instagram profile were full of this shattering news, but Roberto was not shaken. When asked how he felt about it, he replied:
"Jesus is enough. I remain confident that God has the best for me!"
Wow. Even in the midst of this great disappointment, he responded with such confidence! I'm sure he copied this from David, who said very similarly in Psalm 27: "I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord, in the land of the living." (Psalm 27:13 NIV)
When I saw that interview, I thought to myself, "Wow, what a commission!"
Maybe God's mission for Roberto is so much bigger than the 2022 World Cup. Now everyone wants to see how he deals with this disappointment. You search the Internet or go to his Instagram account to see a crying footballer, but what you find there in the very first place, and over and over again, is the phrase: "Jesus is enough."
Wow. Galatians 2:20 says: "...it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me..." (Galatians 2:20 NKJV)
This is what everyone will find when they search for a disappointed football player, a trusting believing man, pointing to Jesus, a strong and influential man! A man with a mission!
If you experience disappointment today, it may be that only through that experience can you live your real mission!
Why? Because God also has the best in store for YOU!
Do you also want to say confidently today, "Even if my dreams crumble, His hands will hold me? Come what may, Jesus is enough?"
Shattering news need not shake YOU! Trust in God.
You are a miracle!
