Abundance In The Bush - Country Devotions

DAY 10 OF 14

Get it Done

Terrifying fire breathing monsters… sinister evil lurking behind every tree… each shadow evidence of a vicious killer… I’m sure these are the thoughts that race through Katie’s mind some days. Katie is an Appaloosa thoroughbred: “a combination fit for the glue factory” according to the farrier. (He dislikes her…)

I think she is lovely, though some days just mounting her is a tension-filled experience. Taking her nature into consideration, it was probably unwise to do what I did one day. Our long ride led us to a main road. Trucks, buses, so much noise! Katie dislikes oncoming traffic. A fast car rattles her. And so, whilst braving untold dangers, I was doing a bit of praying, “Lord, if I ever get through this alive, I’ll serve You forever!”

I live to tell you that after riding the main roads, the country roads are a piece of cake! Back on quieter roads, Katie didn’t even react to the occasional vehicle. (Probably still in shock).

The episode reminded me of the saying, “If you have lots of frogs to swallow, swallow the big ones first. Then the smaller ones are easy!” If you have big issues (big frogs to swallow), face up to them with courage like David did. Most people thought Goliath was too big to hit. David thought he was too big to miss. Stop beating around the bush. Front up and get the difficult tasks done, then its country roads after that.

Father, give me the courage to face up to difficult issues and relationships in life. There is nothing You and I can’t handle together. Amen.

About this Plan

Abundance In The Bush - Country Devotions

Seek and you will find God’s signature all over the bush. Pull up beside her creeks. Sit under the majestic gums. Fill your nostrils with branding smoke. Run an eye over the cattle. Discover the parable in every horse. Marvel at the working dogs. The bush offers lessons richer than you’ll find in any classroom. May these devotions bring some of the abundance of the bush to you.
