The Way, Truth, And Life

1+1=2. Is this truth? What is truth? Has it changed over the years? Once upon a time, it seemed that what we were taught at school was the truth. Today, some call this a ‘post-truth’ world, and each of us can interpret truth in accordance with our own philosophy.

Pilate’s question is one we all ask at one point or another. Although we don’t have a recorded answer from Jesus, we see Him previously say that everyone who has truth hears His voice. If we want to know what truth is, we simply must look at Christ, and we will find it within His person. Jesus said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life’ (John 14:6b).

Truth is found in God alone – our creator, sustainer, and the source of life. As we follow Him, we find hope of eternal life and find the truth as He leads us. This emphasises the importance of a true and close relationship with Him. The closer we are to God, the better we can hear His voice as we try to follow it. The better we can hear His voice, the closer we are to truth as we seek it in relationship with Him.
