When Wrong Seems Right: A Kid's Bible Study on Making Good Choices Sample

When Wrong Seems Right: A Kid's Bible Study on Making Good Choices

DAY 4 OF 5

Proverbs 12:1Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.

Ephesians 5:15-17 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Foolishness

Have you ever made a mistake that made you feel foolish? I’ve done it countless times. Once, when I was little, I thought there was an alien outside my bedroom window that I was sure was trying to abduct me. I told my mom about it several times before she finally opened my curtains to show me that the voice I was hearing was from a restaurant drive-thru window nearby. Having someone who knew better about what was happening sure solved my alien problems quick. God has given you a lot of people in your life He has tasked with disciplining and correcting you. When a parent, teacher, or pastor gently addresses areas of your life where you have something to learn, their guidance will help you grow in wisdom, faith, and godliness. If, however, you ignore the wisdom of trustworthy and godly adults, the Bible would call that foolishness. God isn’t silent about what is right, and you should trust Him over your own heart 100 percent of the time. To ignore God’s commands in order to follow your own desires is truly foolish.

1. What lesson that your mom or dad taught you has made a big difference in your life?

2. What is something that God has asked you to do that is hard for you?

3. What is the best advice or correction you’ve ever received from someone? Read Ephesians 5:15–17.

4. In Ephesians 5, Paul says that knowing God’s will keeps you from being foolish. How does that relate to Proverbs 12:1?

5. After reading these two passages, think about two or three questions you have about these verses.

6. What other verses in the Bible help to answer your questions?

7. What do you think is the most important idea of these two passages, Ephesians 5:15–17 and Proverbs 12:1?

8. What do these verses ask you to think, feel, or do?

About this Plan

When Wrong Seems Right: A Kid's Bible Study on Making Good Choices

Where do we turn when we want to know what to do? The book of Proverbs in the Bible is God’s gift of wisdom to His people. Wisdom is knowing how to find and follow God. There’s no better place to find wisdom than in the Bible because the Bible comes from a God who loves you and knows better than you do what is good for you.
