Jesus Said About How to Be WitnessesSample
Step 4: Your life after your conversion (20 seconds)
Yesterday, we discussed how to begin your testimony: Can I tell you the best thing that ever happened to me? You told the person how your life was before you got converted and how you got converted.
The next step is to tell the person what happened after your conversion. Some will testify that they were immediately delivered from all desire for alcohol, etc. Others will tell how the rebellion and anger slowly started to drain away from their lives and how the feelings of confusion began to clear up, etc.
Write down your testimony according to these five steps. Use a few sentences to describe every step. Make sure that you recount it within 60 seconds. Each step can be about 20 seconds. You can say a lot in 20 seconds!
Do some role-play right now in your group.
Start with: What is the best thing that ever happened to you?
Summary:
1. Start a conversation. A very easy way to start is to ask: What is the best thing that ever happened to you?
2. My life before I met Jesus.
3. How I met Jesus.
4. What happened after I met Jesus?
5. Ask the question: Has something like this ever happened to you?
How to share your testimony (My Story) in One minute
Your homework for today is to go to three Christians and share your "My Story" with them – your One Minute testimony.
Phone three people, ask who of you can give half an hour of their time. Tell them you are doing a course, have some practical homework, and will need 10 minutes of their time.
When you meet with them, start to talk in general and just ask: What is the best thing that ever happened to you? Do not tell the person when you will ask them to help you with your "homework." When you get to the end of your testimony, you tell them this was your homework. Ask them what you could do better.
Step 5: The next step is to ask: Has something like this ever happened to you?
When you finish your personal testimony, you can ask a straightforward question to help you create an opportunity to share The Story of Jesus with someone.
