Real Hope: No Fear in LoveSample
If Fear Is The Shadows, Then Love Is The Light
We know this verse. It’s talking about the love of God that allows believers not to be fearful of our eternal destiny. It’s telling us that we can be secure in our God, His love, and His promise to us that we’ll be with Him after we take our final breath. But what about while we’re here on earth? Does the love that encourages us to live for the hereafter have any impact on the fear we experience in the here-and-now?
If we read verses like this and are focused on the other side of eternity, we miss the victory we can have by applying it to the battles we struggle with now. Battles with disappointment, discouragement and fear. The only perfect love we can ever experience is the love of God our heavenly Father. The intimate, personal relationship He offers us all means we can experience the love that will cast out ALL fear – fear of the unknown, fear of the future, fear of failure… but ONLY IF we trust Him and surrender completely to Him.
The fears we have can cast doubt in our minds, causing spiritual shadows that can lead to darkness… but when we take them to God, we don’t need to fear. We allow His perfect love to encourage us. We can trust Him with the outcome of every situation. He is the love that conquers the fear. He is the light of love that breaks through the shadows of fear.
God’s love for us and in us dispels the fear in our hearts and minds. It’s the light in the darkness and it’s the love that drives out our fears right here, right now.
