Good To Know: Good Advice For A Better LifeSample
Let’s be honest. Control is something that we all strive for, some more than others. But nobody likes to lose control. We make plans to make sure things go our way. “Take control of your life” tends to be a popular mantra.
The local bookstore is lined with self-help books to help you with just about everything. Attain your dream job. Save the world. Be the captain of your own ship. Unfortunately, captains can’t control the weather. And you can’t control the storms that show up in your life.
The reality is that no matter how healthy you are, cancer can arise at any given moment. No matter how many financial books you read, one bad move can cause your bank account to collapse. Relationships can be smooth on one day, and rocky the next. In a world of uncertainty, what do you do?
Proverbs 21:31 says, “the horse is made ready for battle.” Like the horse, you can prepare, and do everything in your power to succeed. At that point, the results are not in your control, but God’s. So practice, prepare, get ready, and do your best. And then trust that God will handle the rest. God called you to be made ready for battle, but ultimately, there is freedom in trusting God for the results.

Questions for Reflection:
- Have you come to terms with giving it your all, and letting God handle the outcome? What areas of life are you still trying to control everything?
- What can you do to better prepare yourself for life's battles that come your way?
