Sometimes it is easy to think that you can’t do anything for the Gospel. You see confident speakers up on a stage who can quote the bible backwards, forwards and, if they are showing off, upside down! Is this what it takes to make an impact for the Kingdom?!

In Acts 21, Paul gets arrested and before he is taken away, he asks to address the crowd. In chapter 22, we read what he said to them. Don’t forget that this is the same crowd who was just beating and trying to kill him! When he addressed them, surprisingly, he didn’t rebuke them or express how annoyed he was. Instead, he told them the story of how he became the man standing before them. He shared how he used to be just like them. in fact, it was his job to hunt down Christians and imprison them. He shared how Jesus appeared before him, blinded him, and set him on the path to becoming a great carrier of the Gospel.

Now, your testimony might not involve being blinded while killing Christians, but that doesn’t mean your testimony isn’t important! Your story is unique to you, and your story impact someone. You don’t have to have the entire bible memorised to start telling others about God; all you need is to be able to talk about what God did for you.

What would you say if you were to do what Paul did and retell the story of how you became a Christian? Maybe your story is dramatic like Paul’s, or maybe you grew up surrounded by Jesus followers and deciding to follow Jesus was a gradual process. Either way, take some time now to reflect and write down the outline of how you would tell that story.

BE BOLD

Who in your life knows that you are a Christian but may not know why you decided to follow Jesus in the first place? Pray for an opportunity to talk about why you follow Jesus with them this week. Pray God will give you the boldness to take the opportunity when it comes along.
