Psalms - Wisdom for LifeSample

When you play sport in the playground, there’s always a moment before the game where the team captains choose who will be part of their team. As each captain chooses a player at a time, you wait and hope that you’ll get picked and be on a winning team.
In life, you are already on the winning team! Jesus has chosen you. Jesus is the captain, and you’re on His team. That means you and I are already on the winning team! Through Jesus, we have victory in all circumstances.
When you’re facing a battle, a challenge, or a tough time, God is on your side; you’re on the winning team. What happens when a sports team wins a game? Think about the Grand Final or the Super Bowl; when a team wins and has a victory, they CELEBRATE! They cheer, they shout, they go crazy. In England, football fans caused an “earthquake” with their celebrations. A seismometer installed near Leicester City’s King Power stadium reported a minor quake with a magnitude of 0.3. The tremor was attributed to a “sudden energy release” made by fans when a player on their team scored a last-minute winning goal.
We are on the winning team because we have victory in Jesus’ name! We can celebrate even before the battle is won because no matter what happens, we’re chosen, and we’re victorious; God is on our side. The Psalms show us songs and verses of praise; they show us that we are victorious in Jesus’ name.
About this Plan

We can find wisdom for life in the pages of the Bible and one of the most well-known wisdom books, Psalms. Through the life of David, who wrote many of the Psalms, discover that this book is more than just a collection of poems. It shows us how to praise God with a thankful heart, to trust Him in troubled times, and that we have victory in Jesus' name.
