Why Doesn't God Answer My Prayers?Sample
No.10 - Not willing to deal with myself first.
Many pray that the "other" person will change but do not hear when the Lord shows them areas in their own lives where change is needed. This is one of the major problems regarding unanswered prayers. A woman called and asked me to pray for her husband. I asked, "How is your attitude toward your husband?" She then said it had nothing to do with her husband's problem. I then asked the same question again – to which she put the phone down. She knew things in her own life were wrong, but for her, it was only about God changing her husband.
No.11 - Trying to tell God what to do.
We often have the attitude: Let me go to God and tell Him what He needs to do. Let me go and give Him some advice. Too often, we are just so sure of ourselves. "Lord, here is the plan. Can you please just put your stamp on it? It will give some authority. I am actually not coming to ask for an answer, just your support."
We have to wait on God. Wait on God. We must surrender our will and ask: Lord, what is your will? And then we must wait. In this time of waiting, we must read our Bibles. Listen. Read the Bible. Be silent before Him. Worship Him.
No.12 - Neutral ground
Too often, we want something so badly that we don't listen to God's words or get answers. Ensure you get to a place where you are neutral to the issue you are praying about. Then, you will be able to listen and be willing to accept God's will. This will bring answers to many unanswered prayers.
No.13 - Still no answers
When all of this is said, there are often questions about unanswered prayers. It is essential to understand that sometimes there will be no answers here on earth. God does not give answers to all things. That doesn't mean there aren't answers. God is never embarrassed or unable to help us. God is often silent for reasons we do not understand. God is God. Let's live with the light we have. There are things that God reveals to us, and there are things that God keeps hidden (Deuteronomy 29:29).
