 <div class="label">2</div><div class="s1">The Grain Offering</div><div class="p">1&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;When anyone brings a grain offering to the Lord, their offering is to be of the finest flour. They are to pour olive oil on it, put incense on it 2and take it to Aaron&#8217;s sons the priests. The priest shall take a handful of the flour and oil, together with all the incense, and burn this as a memorial#2:2 Or representative; also in verses 9 and 16 portion on the altar, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 3The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the food offerings presented to the Lord.</div><div class="p">4&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If you bring a grain offering baked in an oven, it is to consist of the finest flour: either thick loaves made without yeast and with olive oil mixed in or thin loaves made without yeast and brushed with olive oil. 5If your grain offering is prepared on a griddle, it is to be made of the finest flour mixed with oil, and without yeast. 6Crumble it and pour oil on it; it is a grain offering. 7If your grain offering is cooked in a pan, it is to be made of the finest flour and some olive oil. 8Bring the grain offering made of these things to the Lord; present it to the priest, who shall take it to the altar. 9He shall take out the memorial portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar as a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 10The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the food offerings presented to the Lord.</div><div class="p">11&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast, for you are not to burn any yeast or honey in a food offering presented to the Lord. 12You may bring them to the Lord as an offering of the firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma. 13Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings.</div><div class="p">14&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If you bring a grain offering of firstfruits to the Lord, offer crushed heads of new grain roasted in the fire. 15Put oil and incense on it; it is a grain offering. 16The priest shall burn the memorial portion of the crushed grain and the oil, together with all the incense, as a food offering presented to the Lord.</div>

 <div class="label">3</div><div class="s1">The Fellowship Offering</div><div class="p">1&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If your offering is a fellowship offering, and you offer an animal from the herd, whether male or female, you are to present before the Lord an animal without defect. 2You are to lay your hand on the head of your offering and slaughter it at the entrance to the tent of meeting. Then Aaron&#8217;s sons the priests shall splash the blood against the sides of the altar. 3From the fellowship offering you are to bring a food offering to the Lord: the internal organs and all the fat that is connected to them, 4both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which you will remove with the kidneys. 5Then Aaron&#8217;s sons are to burn it on the altar on top of the burnt offering that is lying on the burning wood; it is a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.</div><div class="p">6&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If you offer an animal from the flock as a fellowship offering to the Lord, you are to offer a male or female without defect. 7If you offer a lamb, you are to present it before the Lord, 8lay your hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting. Then Aaron&#8217;s sons shall splash its blood against the sides of the altar. 9From the fellowship offering you are to bring a food offering to the Lord: its fat, the entire fat tail cut off close to the backbone, the internal organs and all the fat that is connected to them, 10both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which you will remove with the kidneys. 11The priest shall burn them on the altar as a food offering presented to the Lord.</div><div class="p">12&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If your offering is a goat, you are to present it before the Lord, 13lay your hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting. Then Aaron&#8217;s sons shall splash its blood against the sides of the altar. 14From what you offer you are to present this food offering to the Lord: the internal organs and all the fat that is connected to them, 15both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which you will remove with the kidneys. 16The priest shall burn them on the altar as a food offering, a pleasing aroma. All the fat is the Lord&#8217;s.</div><div class="p">17&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live: You must not eat any fat or any blood.&#8217;&#8198;&#8221;</div>

 <div class="label">4</div><div class="s1">The Sin Offering</div><div class="p">1The Lord said to Moses, 2&#8220;Say to the Israelites: &#8216;When anyone sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord&#8217;s commands&#8212;</div><div class="p">3&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he must bring to the Lord a young bull without defect as a sin offering#4:3 Or purification offering; here and throughout this chapter for the sin he has committed. 4He is to present the bull at the entrance to the tent of meeting before the Lord. He is to lay his hand on its head and slaughter it there before the Lord. 5Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull&#8217;s blood and carry it into the tent of meeting. 6He is to dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before the Lord, in front of the curtain of the sanctuary. 7The priest shall then put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense that is before the Lord in the tent of meeting. The rest of the bull&#8217;s blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 8He shall remove all the fat from the bull of the sin offering&#8212;all the fat that is connected to the internal organs, 9both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which he will remove with the kidneys&#8212; 10just as the fat is removed from the ox#4:10 The Hebrew word can refer to either male or female. sacrificed as a fellowship offering. Then the priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering. 11But the hide of the bull and all its flesh, as well as the head and legs, the internal organs and the intestines&#8212; 12that is, all the rest of the bull&#8212;he must take outside the camp to a place ceremonially clean, where the ashes are thrown, and burn it there in a wood fire on the ash heap.</div><div class="p">13&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If the whole Israelite community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord&#8217;s commands, even though the community is unaware of the matter, when they realize their guilt 14and the sin they committed becomes known, the assembly must bring a young bull as a sin offering and present it before the tent of meeting. 15The elders of the community are to lay their hands on the bull&#8217;s head before the Lord, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord. 16Then the anointed priest is to take some of the bull&#8217;s blood into the tent of meeting. 17He shall dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle it before the Lord seven times in front of the curtain. 18He is to put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before the Lord in the tent of meeting. The rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 19He shall remove all the fat from it and burn it on the altar, 20and do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the community, and they will be forgiven. 21Then he shall take the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull. This is the sin offering for the community.</div><div class="p">22&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;When a leader sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the commands of the Lord his God, when he realizes his guilt 23and the sin he has committed becomes known, he must bring as his offering a male goat without defect. 24He is to lay his hand on the goat&#8217;s head and slaughter it at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before the Lord. It is a sin offering. 25Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. 26He shall burn all the fat on the altar as he burned the fat of the fellowship offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the leader&#8217;s sin, and he will be forgiven.</div><div class="p">27&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If any member of the community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord&#8217;s commands, when they realize their guilt 28and the sin they have committed becomes known, they must bring as their offering for the sin they committed a female goat without defect. 29They are to lay their hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it at the place of the burnt offering. 30Then the priest is to take some of the blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. 31They shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. In this way the priest will make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.</div><div class="p">32&#8220;&#8198;&#8216;If someone brings a lamb as their sin offering, they are to bring a female without defect. 33They are to lay their hand on its head and slaughter it for a sin offering at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered. 34Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. 35They shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the lamb of the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar on top of the food offerings presented to the Lord. In this way the priest will make atonement for them for the sin they have committed, and they will be forgiven.</div>

 <div class="label">3</div><div class="s1">Jesus Teaches Nicodemus</div><div class="p">1Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2He came to Jesus at night and said, &#8220;Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.&#8221;</div><div class="p">3Jesus replied, &#8220;Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.#3:3 The Greek for again also means from above; also in verse 7.&#8221;</div><div class="p">4&#8220;How can someone be born when they are old?&#8221; Nicodemus asked. &#8220;Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother&#8217;s womb to be born!&#8221;</div><div class="p">5Jesus answered, &#8220;Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit#3:6 Or but spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, &#8216;You#3:7 The Greek is plural. must be born again.&#8217; 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.&#8221;#3:8 The Greek for Spirit is the same as that for wind.</div><div class="p">9&#8220;How can this be?&#8221; Nicodemus asked.</div><div class="p">10 &#8220;You are Israel&#8217;s teacher,&#8221; said Jesus, &#8220;and do you not understand these things? 11Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven&#8212;the Son of Man.#3:13 Some manuscripts Man, who is in heaven 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,#3:14 The Greek for lifted up also means exalted. 15that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.&#8221;#3:15 Some interpreters end the quotation with verse 21.</div><div class="p">16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God&#8217;s one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.</div><div class="s1">John Testifies Again About Jesus</div><div class="p">22After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. 23Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. 24(This was before John was put in prison.) 25An argument developed between some of John&#8217;s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing. 26They came to John and said to him, &#8220;Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan&#8212;the one you testified about&#8212;look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.&#8221;</div><div class="p">27To this John replied, &#8220;A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28You yourselves can testify that I said, &#8216;I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.&#8217; 29The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom&#8217;s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. 30He must become greater; I must become less.&#8221;#3:30 Some interpreters end the quotation with verse 36.</div><div class="p">31The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God#3:34 Greek he gives the Spirit without limit. 35The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God&#8217;s wrath remains on them.</div>
