The Temptations

DAY 5 OF 28

I recently attended a high school soccer game. Toward the end of the game, with only a few minutes left on the clock, things were getting close, and I almost lost hope for our team winning. But then, unexpectedly, one of our players came sprinting down the field with the ball and “boom!” scored a goal in the last 30 seconds, giving our team victory! The crowd went crazy cheering.

In a way, this is how God planned things out for our lives. God gave us victory through His Son, Jesus. God made the “game-winning shot” to set us free from sin and shame by sending Jesus to die on the cross for all of our sins.

How could we respond in any other way other than praising God for this? Sometimes that can be easier said than done though. I know that in my life, I’m tempted to forget to thank God. One way I fight this temptation is by thinking, before my head hits my pillow at night, of ten things I can thank God for that happened during my day.

This could include lots of different things, like that I was given the words to say in a difficult conversation, or that I had the confidence to give an important presentation at school. God works in many different ways, so let’s thank God for setting us free by praising Him throughout our day-to-day lives!
