This Is the Day the Lord Has MadeSample
GOD'S ETERNAL DOMINION
Reflecting on Easter this season, I've been reflecting on God's reign forever and how my life with God after is longer and more important than my life here on earth. In the Old Testament, it prophesied that God's dominion would be forever. ”He was given authority, glory, and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom will never be destroyed.“ (Daniel 7:14) This talks about a Savior who will come and establish a kingdom forever.
In the New Testament, Jesus identifies Himself as the one who will establish everlasting dominion. But His life on earth isn't forever, and He warns us not to fall into darkness. "Then Jesus told them, 'You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going.’“ (John 12:35) In this scripture, we can reflect on God's eternal dominion and the relative shortness of our own life.
Walk in the light with Jesus so you know where you're going. What good we do in this life is important, and this life is much shorter than the life after with God. What could you do for the rest of the Lent season to do what God asks you to do?
Prayer - Lord, please help us remember how important it is to follow you in this life. Guide us in understanding the significance of the reign of God’s dominion forever.
