This Is the Day the Lord Has MadeSample
LORD, HELP!
I was in my small backyard with a 9-iron golf club and a tennis ball. Naturally, as a kid, I wanted to hit the tennis ball with the 9-iron. One problem: a small backyard and my neighbor's house was right there, maybe 15 feet away. Okay, that was two problems. "It's just a tennis ball; it won't hurt anything." Right? So, I start hitting one beautiful shot after another off the side of my neighbor's house. I am having a great time. No harm done. One more swing. "Crash!!" I hear the sound of broken glass, and my eyes race to find the window. It took a few moments, but then I saw it: the only window on that side of the house was broken! I throw the club and run into my home as quickly as possible to find Mom.
My actions screamed, "HELP...I need help!!!" My mom found me and hugged me. She loved me well.
“LORD, help!” cries the psalmist in Ps 107:13. The Israelites were in trouble and needed HELP. Since God's love is steadfast, He “saves them from their distress.”
Long before Jesus was born, this psalmist is pointing us to Jesus and His loyal love.
Jesus is born a King, an eternal King (Micah 5:2). Not only does He have the power of a king, but He has the tender care of a shepherd (Matthew 2:6).
When life is hard, and we cry, "LORD, help!" we have a powerful King who can help us in our time of need, and when He helps, it is full of tender, unwavering love!
Pray – Take a moment to thank God for His steadfast love, OR cry "LORD, help!" and invite Him into whatever hardship you face.
