Proverbs - Wisdom for Life

DAY 5 OF 15

Do you think you have a high IQ? IQ stands for intelligence quotient. It’s a score designed to show how smart someone is based on some standard tests. Most people have an IQ score of around 100; if you’re really smart, you might get a score of 125! The problem is that an IQ score only looks at certain kinds of thinking, and while someone may have a high IQ, they may not have wisdom.

We don’t know what King Solomon’s IQ might have been, but the Bible says he was so wise that other kings came from far and wide just to hear him talk.

There was a queen from another land, the Queen of Sheba, who heard of Solomon’s famous wisdom. She travelled all the way to Jerusalem to test him with lots of really hard questions. Solomon answered every single question; he passed the test! Nothing was too hard for him to explain to her. She told King Solomon that she’d heard all about him but didn’t believe what people said. Only when she came to see him for herself did she discover just how wise he really was!

God’s wisdom is far above anything we could learn in a textbook. It is far better than the smartest professor or scientist on earth. God’s wisdom makes a person more than smart; it makes them wise! We are wise to ask God for wisdom.

About this Plan

Proverbs - Wisdom for Life

We can find wisdom for life in the pages of the Bible, in one of the most well-known wisdom books, Proverbs. Through the life of Solomon, who wrote many of the Proverbs, discover that this book is more than just a collection of wise sayings. We are wise to ask God for wisdom when we build great friendships and when we know the power of our words.
