Christ, the Highway to God - Journey with God on the Highway

"But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." - Matthew 7:14 NIV

At the beginning of this series, we briefly examined the common belief that oneness with God can be achieved through different paths or practices. Some people have looked to the universe, others to new age theories and some to intense disciplines. However, the Bible is clear that Jesus is the only Way to God.

"There is only one God. And there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Jesus Christ, who is also a man."- 1 Timothy 2:5 ICB

Jesus is the one-size-fits-all remedy for connecting with and staying in union with God. Because of life’s complexities, some have imagined the path to true peace as an uphill journey. However, the way to true and lasting peace beyond understanding is by believing in Christ and his finished work on the cross.

This is the simplicity of the Gospel; that we only believe.

In our opening text today, Jesus speaks of the straightforwardness of the Gospel to the disciples. God’s plan of salvation was so simple that man required no elaborate steps, pedigree or law to attain it. Man’s quest for oneness with God and eternal life has been met by God through Christ’s once-and-for-all payment for sin on the Cross, guaranteeing our redemption.

"Jesus has opened a new way for us to come near to God. That way gives us life with God. It leads us through the curtain into God's Most Holy Place. Jesus opened that curtain for us when he offered his own body to God as a sacrifice". - Hebrews 10:20 EASY

No longer would man need to search for God through diverse paths. The way to God has been narrowed down to one: Jesus. In Him, God united himself with man and made man whole and complete, embedding man with all he would ever need for a victorious life.

"And because you are united with Christ, you are now complete. He is the one who rules over everything that has power or authority." - Colossians 2:10 NKJV

Through our union with Christ;

• We are connected with all of God. This means as believers, we have access to the Holy Spirit who leads us and helps us navigate through life like the Global Positioning System (GPS) of a vehicle.
• We are not left to fend for themselves; we carry the kāḇôḏ: the very presence of God so we are not subject to the enemy’s wiles.
• We are not merely waiting to experience all of God in Heaven in the sweet by-and-by future. In Christ, we have Heaven on earth!

"What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!" - 1 Peter 1:3-4 MSG

Dear Believer, your journey with God doesn’t begin with ‘doing’; It starts with ‘done’; pointing to the finished and perfected work of Jesus on the cross. The Word of God says the Father is pleased to give you the kingdom (Luke 12:32).

As His Sons, the Father has granted us access through Jesus! Walk in this consciousness!
