Altars: An Invitation to Meet With God

DAY 6 OF 10

Lay the Foundation

Read the Scripture passage slowly and reverently. Listen for the word or phrase the Holy Spirit highlights for you.

  • "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    3 He refreshes my soul.
He guides mealong the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
    4 Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
    I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
    You anoint my head with oil;
    my cupoverflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever." - Pslam 23

Sit quietly with the Lord, allowing His truth and His presence to minister to you.

Listen to the song and consider how it carries the message of Psalm 23

Invitation to Worship

Read the lyrics, slowly and with intention. Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight a word or phrase for your consideration.

Using the lyrics as inspiration, tell God what’s on your mind.

Listen to the song and sing along, offering your simple, authentic worship to God.

Altar Moment

Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one or two of the following Invitations for your focus.

Invitations from God:

  • Declare faith in the midst of trials, suffering and darkness
  • Consider the ways God shepherds you
  • Provides for you
  • Leads you
  • Protects you
  • Remember that God is always with you
  • Hope in the promises of God in the now and not yet

Respond to God’s invitation to stretch and grow in faith by asking Him for His help.

Knowing God is with you, listen to the song and worship, once more.

About this Plan

Altars: An Invitation to Meet With God

An altar moment is a holy encounter. It occurs when we set our heart’s intention on meeting with God and He meets with us. It is an opportunity to acknowledge our need for God, to worship Him, and to call on Him in honesty and vulnerability. It is a place of relationship, surrender, sacrifice, remembrance, communion, joy, asking, being seen, grieving, waiting, and more.
