DAY 4 OF 7

Graced and Changed

Continuing to explore Paul’s extraordinary journey, we see that it is a monument to the boundless grace of God, a grace that not only saved him but also called him to a remarkable ministry.

Paul describes himself as a recipient of “grace and apostleship” to beckon the obedience of faith among all Gentiles for Christ’s namesake. This notion of gracious apostleship distinguishes Paul’s profound humility and gratitude toward his divine calling. His transformation from a persecutor to a proclaimer of the gospel shows grace in action. Every aspect of his salvation and ministry was a gift from God, underscoring the sheer unmerited favor bestowed upon him.

In 1 Corinthians 15:9, Paul acknowledges his unworthiness to be called an apostle due to his past persecution of the church. Yet, through this acknowledgment, the magnitude of God’s grace shines brightest. Paul’s ministry, characterized by his commitment to spreading the gospel among Gentiles, was a role he deemed a gracious opportunity, allowing him to share Christ’s love with others.

This grace extended beyond Paul’s conversion and calling; it marked a profound change in his very being. Once a staunch Pharisee who would have scorned Gentiles, Paul became their apostle, dedicating his life to their spiritual guidance and growth. The church in Rome, predominantly Gentile, was the proof of this radical transformation. Paul’s ministry to the Gentiles demonstrated his changed heart and embodied the inclusive love of the gospel.

Paul’s journey challenges us to consider how grace has shaped our own lives. Are we aware of the gracious opportunities God presents us to share His love and truth? Paul’s example encourages us to embrace our calling with humility and gratitude, recognizing that every moment we are allowed to serve God and others is a gift.

Let us be agents of change in our communities. May we, like Paul, be ever mindful of the grace that saves, calls, and changes us, committing ourselves to live in obedience to faith for the glory of Christ’s name.
