Helmet of Salvation
Bible story: Saul’s conversion (Acts 9:1-19)
It is important that we wear our helmets of salvation because it could be fatal if we were to receive a blow to the head. How do we make sure to have our helmet on? The Bible makes it clear that our salvation is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. When he died for our sins, he paid the price and bought our salvation!
We cannot earn our way into heaven by good deeds, but only through trusting in Jesus Christ, are we saved. We do not need to have a ceremony prayer every day to put on our helmets of salvation. If we have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation, then we are wearing our helmet!
God appeared to Saul in a miraculous way in today’s Bible story from the book of Acts. Saul, who later becomes Paul, was mocking the Christians and persecuting them. One day on the road to Damascus, Jesus appeared suddenly to Saul with a flash of light from heaven and Saul fell to the ground blinded. Three days later, God sent a Christian to heal him and bring him to Christ. That week Saul believed in Jesus and was saved! You can put your helmet of salvation on today, just as Paul did, if you pray and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for your salvation.
Pray with me, “Dear Jesus, today I admit that I am a sinner and have done wrong. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and that you are real. I accept you into my heart today as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you for accepting me, loving me, and giving me eternal life with you in heaven!”
"I choose to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation."
