Overcoming WearinessSample
A Posture of Surrender:
As we end this reading plan, my encouragement to you is to meditate on the eight words found in Psalm 46:10: "Be still and know that I am God." I hope you will apply these truths to your Body, Soul and Spirit.
- BE STILL: To be still is to surrender physically to our need for sleep and rest and seek quiet, motionless spaces for restoration. The key to overcoming body weariness is to intentionally embrace being still physically. Remember to need sleep is to be human. My encouragement is to listen to your body, practice saying no and remember that rest is God's plan for us, which is good.
- AND KNOW: John 8:32 clearly states that truth will set us free. Therefore, we must align our minds to the truth. We know, according to Romans 12:2, that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. Do we know the truth about our authority, identity and position in Christ? Or are we relying on "our knowledge" to perform our way? My encouragement is to know your position: We are not God. Surrender to this truth and rest in His authority and His sovereignty. We surrender in mind by knowing our place.
- THAT I AM GOD: I heard Louie Giglio many years ago use this line in a sermon: "I am not, but I know I Am." This means we are not God, but we know the Great I AM. Surrendering spiritually means reminding ourselves that we are the created and not the Creator. There is an exhale in our spirit when we surrender to this revelation, which takes a huge performance pressure off our shoulders.
- THE KEY TO OVERCOMING PHYSICAL WEARINESS IS “TO BE STILL”
- THE KEY TO OVERCOMING MENTAL WEARINESS IS TO "KNOW”
- THE KEY TO OVERCOMING SPIRITUAL WEARINESS IS TO SURRENDER TO “I AM GOD”
Surrender in motion and thought to the authority of God. Be still and know that I am God. Allow yourself to breathe in and out to the rhythm of this truth. The promise is that His Peace, which passes all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds, and we rest in Him.
Pray:
Lord, thank you that we can find peace in surrender, be still in your presence, and exhale in knowing you are sovereign and our final authority. Thank you that we don't have to carry that weight and load. Help us align our body, mind and spirit daily to you in all we say and do. Amen.
