On Your Own

DAY 14 OF 28

At the end of every week, we'll give you a challenge—something to try that might be outside your regular routine. Each challenge is designed to help you develop one important spiritual habit. This week, it's...

SPEND TIME WITH OTHERS

The people in our lives can have a big impact on our faith—and we can have a big impact on other people's faith too. But that doesn't happen by accident. Today's challenge is going to help you connect with at least one other person in a way that helps you (or maybe even both of you) grow!

CHALLENGE

For this challenge, you'll take note of the positive things you see in your friends. Set up a time to hang out, but go into the time together with an investigative mindset. Watch for what you appreciate about your friends while you're together. When you notice something, make a note on your phone. Your list might include things like kindness, patience, or loyalty.

Once you've made your list, create a Venn Diagram. In the left circle, write down the items from your list. On the right side, include what your friends might say about you. In the middle, write down the characteristics that overlap.

Which things are true of your friends but you wouldn't say are true of you? Talk to God about them. Just because something isn't true right now doesn't mean you can't develop in that area for the future. How can your friends encourage your growth?

For the characteristics that overlap, look for a way you and your friends can continue to put those things into practice by serving others or strengthening them in your friendship.

About this Plan

On Your Own

Game shows can reveal the strength behind friendships. Whether we're solving puzzles or overcoming challenges, quality friendships can help us move on to the next round of competition. So, what does it look like to develop game-winning friendships? In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore how godly friendships can make a difference and how the Bible can help us take better care of our relationships.
